Unfortunately, going on a little vacation means having to play catch up when you get back. I'll have to put off my entry on the second part of the C.S. Lewis conference another day. In the mean time, go and read [livejournal.com profile] connielane's version of events here.

Now, I thought I would share with you a few quotes form That Hideous Strength, which I am currently reading. These may be of particular interest to those of you who are familiar with certain aspects of HP fandom.

"I suppose there are two views about everything," said Mark.

"Eh? Two views? There are a dozen views about everything until you know the answer. Then there's never more than one."

"Of course," said Jane vaguely, and a little confused. "I'm sure you have a right to your own opinions."

[snip]"Mrs. Studdock, I have no opinions--on any subject in the world. I state the facts and exhibit the implications. If everyone indulged in fewer opinions [snip] there'd be less silly talking and printing in the world."

Just a few little tidbits that amused me, that's all.

No book is really worth reading at the age of ten which is not equally (and often far more) worth reading at the age of fifty--except, of course, books of information... Those of us who are blamed when old for reading childish books were blamed when children for reading books too old for us. No reader worth his salt trots along in obedience to a timetable.

~C.S. Lewis (as seen in someone's sig on TLC's message boards)

Also, if you like Star Wars, go vote in my poll about which order the movies should be viewed in. BTW, [livejournal.com profile] solusfides, the intro to that post was what I was whining about losing tonight. And yes, it did turn out better when I retyped it. I'm still annoyed I had to do it, though.
