*sigh of relief*
Aug. 14th, 2004 12:00 pmMy family is okay. Mom left a message on my cell phone this morning saying they are all fine. As of about 8:30 this morning, they still had no power and no phone service (she called me from her cell phone), and she said, "Things look really wierd around here." She said some of the neighbors had their screen porches damaged or destroyed, and that one neighber had a baskeball goal topple over and make a dent in their car. I'm going to try giving her a call on her cell again in a little bit. Thanks for your concern and prayers.

Date: 2004-08-14 10:17 pm (UTC)I've got friends down in Fort Meyers and Sanibel. I know the storm surge would have litterally enveloped Sanibel (~18 foot surge) and as of yet, they have practically said nothing about it. I've heard one spec from the news about Captiva, where 160 homes were destroyed, and another 160 damaged, which leaves just about nothing left unharmed on that little island!

Date: 2004-08-15 12:26 am (UTC)I'm quite relieved to hear that Joie...Mum tried to call us earlier today on her cell but it was horribly fuzzy and all vanessa could get out of it was that they were fine.
I'm still a little worried about the peops down in maitland and winter park...but Justin sounded so upbeat in his last post that I suppose most everyone will be ok. 'supposed to be some FLOODING though! craziness!!
